COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Five-run fourth inning lifts OC over Butler CC

OXFORD, ALA. The Odessa College Lady Wranglers needed only half of an inning to make all the difference in their 5-1 second round win over Butler College Wednesday at the NJCAA World Series.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Wranglers scored five unanswered runs, which included a grand-slam by Michaella Baker, to erase their one-run deficit and take control.

The game was scoreless after the first three innings.

Then, the Lady Grizzlies got on the board after a Cady Dickey single to left field scored Briona Woods.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Lady Wranglers’ Camryn Milley, Alana Duran and Kawehi Ili all got on base. Then, Baker’s homerun over the left center fence gave No. 1-seeded Odessa College a 4-1 advantage.

Ariel Gomez later singled to shortstop, scoring Brooke Neuman and the Lady Grizzles could not find an answer.

Odessa College finished with 10 hits to Butler’s 2.

Rayna Cruickshanks got the win in the circle while Butler College’s Emma Koeneke took the loss.
