COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Falcons wrap up season with split at Western New Mexico

The UTPB baseball team closed out the 2021 season with a split of its final doubleheader against Western New Mexico in Lone Star Conference play Friday at Mustang Stadium. The Falcons took Game 1 3-1 before falling 8-4 in eight innings in Game 2.

Kortlyn Brown’s two-run single in the top of the seventh inning proved to be the difference in the first game for UTPB (7-33 overall, 5-26 conference) while Grisdey Paredes-Alvarez hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Mustangs (2-28, 2-28) the victory in the second game.

Aracely Araiza led the way for the Falcons offensively by hitting a pair of doubles as part of her five total hits for the day.
