COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Feb. 2, 2023

Pushed back

The season-opening series for the UTPB baseball team has been moved back 24 hours due to recent inclement weather.

UTPB was set to open a four-game series at St. Mary’s at 6 p.m. Friday in San Antonio.

That game will now take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, with the teams meeting in a doubleheader Sunday, followed by a single game at 1 p.m. Monday to close out the series.

Hoops, maybe

The Odessa College women’s and men’s basketball teams return to the court after a forced break when they host New Mexico JC in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play Thursday at the OC Sports Center.

Weather permitting, of course.

The Lady Wranglers will take the court at 5:45 p.m, while the Wranglers are set to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Odessa College was scheduled to face Howard College Monday, but the games were postponed because of icy road conditions.

No makeup dates have been announced.

Travel time

The UTPB women’s and men’s basketball teams hit the road to face West Texas A&M in Lone Star Conference play on Thursday in Canyon.

Play begins at 5:30 p.m. with the women’s game, followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.

UTPB’s women’s team is looking to stay in the postseason hunt after a loss Saturday against Eastern New Mexico.

The Falcons’ men’s team hopes to make it two in a row after holding on for a victory against the Greyhounds.
