COLLEGE GOLF: Wranglers’ furious finish falls short at NJCAA Championships

LUBBOCK The Odessa College golf team made a run during the final round of the NJCAA Men’s Division I National Championships at The Rawls Course Thursday in Lubbock.

The Wranglers carded the best round of the day to finish second (283-293-284-285—1,145) to Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College (280-280-288-288—1,136).

Midland College (283-294-289-289—1,155 was third).

Odessa College trailed Hutchinson by 12 shots entering the final round and made up all but two strokes with six holes remaining to play.

Hutchinson was able to make a few key birdies down the stretch to seal the victory.

Ben Partridge and Harry Crockett of Hutchinson tied for the individual crown at 10-under-par 278.

JT Pittman of Midland College was third at 283, with Odessa College’s Jose Dibildox and Will Adams tying for fourth at 285.

Sangha Park and Marcelo Garza of Odessa College tied for eighth at 289.
