COLLEGE FOOTBALL: UTPB finds new opponent for opening game

The UTPB football team has found a replacement opponent for its season opener a day after losing its originally scheduled game.

The UTPB athletic department announced Friday that the Falcons will face Southwest Baptist (Mo.) Sept. 4 at noon in Bolivar, Mo.

The Falcons were previously scheduled to host the University of Fort Lauderdale Sept. 3 at Ratliff Stadium before the UFL program was forced to shut down temporarily due to COVID-19 protocols.

Southwest Baptist played three games during the spring, finishing 1-2, and finished 3-8 in the 2019 fall season.

This will be the first game of a home-and-home series as the Falcons are slated to host the Bearcats in 2023.

UTPB’s home opener will now be Sept. 11 against West Texas A&M.
