UTPB kicker Carson Roberts was named the Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.
The Odessa native and Permian graduate was instrumental in the Falcons’ 27-19 win over Western New Mexico Saturday on the road, taking care of all the kicking duties in the rainy conditions in Silver City, N.M.
He kicked a pair of field goals which included one from 40 yards in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory for the Falcons, who improved to 3-1 overall.
Roberts also averaged 38.3 yards per punt with all of them resulting in a fair catch. He had a pair of kickoffs go for a touchback and Western New Mexico only averaged 18.5 yards per return.
Roberts is currently perfect on PAT attempts this year, going 12-of-12.
Angelo State linebacker Josh Quinton was named the Defensive Player of the Week. Midwestern State wide receiver Kylan Harrison was named the Offensive Player of the Week.
