COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY: Musukuma steps down as UTPB head coach

UTPB head men’s and women’s cross country coach Alick Musukuma has stepped down to take a a job at NCAA Division I school Oral Roberts, the university announced Wednesday.

Musukuma had been in charge of UTPB cross country for the past seven seasons.

During his time at UTPB, Musukuma had helped coach Eric Flores to the first NCAA Championship appearance in program history last fall.

Flores and his teammate Hector Sanchez both finished in the top 10 of the Lone Star Conference Championships while Sanchez earned Freshman of the Year honors.

In 2017, the Falcon men finished third in the LSC to earn a spot at the South Central Regional as a team.

Musukuma returns to Oral Roberts where he served as head coach of the school’s cross country program and was an assistant with track and field.

He was named the 2005 Summit League Cross Country Coach of the Year while at Oral Roberts.
