COLLEGE BASEBALL: Odessa College opens WJCAC Tournament with blowout victory

CLARENDON The Odessa College baseball team got off to a strong start in its first game of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Tournament with a 21-1 victory against Frank Phillips College in five innings Friday at Clarendon College.

The Wranglers (19-24) jumped out to an early lead thanks to an eight-run first inning and a 12-run second inning to put the game away early. Tyson Pointer, Trevor Hatton and Nate Van Maanen all drove in four runs each for the Wranglers while starting pitcher Chandler David allowed three hits and struck out nine.

Odessa College will play host Clarendon College at noon Saturday.
