MARBLE FALLS The Monahans boys golf team finally climbed the mountain, winning the team title at the Class 4A UIL Boys Golf State Tournament Tuesday at Apple Rock Golf Course at Horseshoe Bay.

The Loboes — Joey Kirk, JT Pittman, Dante Griner, Bond Heflin and Ryan Hedges — carded a two-day total of 306-309—615 to capture the crown, with three-time defending champion Argyle finishing second (317-309—626).

Bullard (323-316—639) rounded out the top three, with Andrews (343-329—672) finishing in a tie for fourth with Pleasant Grove (339-333—672)

Individually, Kirk finished with a two-day total of 2-over-par 146 (73-73) to earn a silver medal. Sam Bennett of Madisonville (70-72—142) was the Class 4A medalist, while Jeryn Pruitt of Brownwood (71-76—147) finished third.

The Loboes finished third in 2017 and fourth in 2016.
