MIDLAND Richie Robnett and Vasili Spanos scored on a throwing error in the sixth inning, helping the Midland RockHounds beat the Corpus Christi Hooks 4-3 in a Texas League baseball game Sunday night at Citibank Ballpark.

Midland had lost six consecutive games, all against Corpus Christi. The Rock-Hounds had beaten the Hooks on July 15 in the first of eight straight games between the teams.

Robnett and Spanos both singled, moved up a base on a balk, and scored when Jeff Baisley’s grounder was misplayed to give Midland a 4-0 lead.

Luke Appert hit an RBI single in the first inning after Cliff Pennington had tripled, and Appert had another run-scoring single in the third after Penning-ton walked with two outs and moved to second on an errant pickoff attempt.

Midland starter Bobby Cramer (2-0) pitched six scoreless innings, while David Shafer picked up his third save despite walking two batters in the ninth.
