TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Jeter Downs doubled and singled, scoring two runs as the Tulsa Drillers defeated the Corpus Christi Hooks 6-2 on Sunday.

Connor Wong doubled and singled twice for Tulsa.

Tulsa took the lead in the first when it put up three runs, including a solo home run by Drew Avans.

After Tulsa added a run in the third when Downs scored on a wild pitch, the Hooks cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Bryan De La Cruz hit an RBI single, bringing home J.J. Matijevic.

The Drillers later tacked on two runs in the fifth when Downs hit an RBI double and Avans scored when a runner was thrown out to secure the victory.

Tulsa right-hander Josiah Gray (3-2) picked up the win after allowing one run on four hits over five innings. Opposing starter Chad Donato (2-3) took the loss in the Texas League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and five hits over four innings.

Matijevic doubled and singled twice, also stealing two bases for the Hooks.

With the win, Tulsa improved to 8-3 against Corpus Christi this season.
