ROUND ROCK The Andrews and Crane boys cross country teams both came away with second-place finishes at the UIL State Cross Country Championships, Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
The Mustangs compiled 92 points, coming up just two points shy of Decatur in the Class 4A race. Derek Hernandez led Andrews with an 11th-place finish in a time of 16 minutes, 16.87 seconds on the three-mile course.
The Andrews girls came in fifth with 196 points, led by Samantha Jasso’s 13th place finish in 12:02.07 on the two-mile course.
Crane put up 104 points in the boys Class 3A race with Jorhan Velasco leading the team with an 11th-place finish at 16:39.14. The Eustace boys won state with 65 points.
Permian’s Josh Garcia finished 52nd in the boys Class 6A race, clocking in at 15:48.03.
