MIDLAND A first half penalty-kick goal by Kendra Cecil was all that the Permian girls soccer team needed Tuesday night to hold off Midland High for a 1-0 victory at Grande Communications Stadium.

With the win, the Lady Panthers (12-4-3 overall, 5-2-2 district) clinched the No. 2 seed in District 2-6A. They close out the season at home against Amarillo Tascosa next Tuesday night.

Midland High can still clinch a playoff spot with a tie against Wolfforth Frenship or a Midland Lee loss to Odessa High.
