Three Odessa High turnovers led to three Midland Lee touchdowns in the third quarter Friday as Lee turned a close game into a 51-14 victory against the Bronchos in the District 3-5A game at Ratliff Stadium.

The game's momentum turned when Casey Forga returned an Odessa High fumble 68 yards for a score with 8:28 left in the third quarter, giving the Rebels a 23-14 lead.

Just 37 seconds later, the Rebels pushed the lead to 30-14 when Nick Salois scored on a 1-yard run. Corey Petro then scored one of his first touchdowns, a 4-yard run, to cash in off an OHS turnover and put the Rebels ahead 37-14 with 4:40 left in the third.

Petro's fourth TD, a 1-yard run, gave Lee a 44-14 lead with 1:43 left in the third quarter. Petro scored twice in the first half, as well, to give the Rebels a 16-14 halftime lead.

Christian Coogan caught an 8-yard TD pass from Jace Edwards in the fourth quarter for the final TD of the night.

Petro rushed in from 2 yards out for a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and then caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from Jason Nash in the second quarter. Also for the Rebels, Zach Starnes kicked a 31-yard field goal.

Derrick Teegarden rallied the Bronchos within two at halftime when he hit Gabriel Rodriguez for a 13-yard touchdown pass with 39 seconds left in the first half.

In the first quarter, Teegarden threw a 12-yard TD pass to Dean Ramos. Travis Austin kicked both extra points for the Bronchos.

The Rebels (3-5 overall, 1-2 district) got their first district victory, while OHS (3-5, 1-2) missed a chance to take control in the race for a playoff berth.
