HOT SUMMER NIGHTS

>> Main Street Odessa and the Odessa Council for the Arts and Humanities have scheduled Hot Summer Nights from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. today and July 27 at Noel Heritage Plaza Park, 320 W. Fifth St.

Tonight’s show features the classical, flamenco guitar and mariachi music of Rama guitar duo and Mariachi Fortuna.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Bring your lawn chairs.

‘THE WIZARD OF OZ’

>> The Permian Playhouse has scheduled “The Wizard of Oz” at 8 p.m. today, Saturday and July 28 and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and July 29 at Permian Playhouse, 310 W. 42nd St.

Tickets are $12 general admission, and $10 for students and seniors.

Beauty Pageants

>> FORT STOCKTON Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Fort Stockton Water Carnival Association has scheduled beauty pageants at the Comanche Springs Swimming Pool, 200 Spring Drive.

Today: 8 p.m., Sub Teen Pageant, Miss Teen Pageant and the Junior Miss Pageant. Cost is $6.

Saturday: 8 p.m., Miss Fort Stockton Pageant, followed by a presentation of “Around the World,” written and produced by Christina Pacheco. Cost is $8.

“Craig Varjabedian: Four & Twenty Photographs,” an exhibit of the works by Varjabedian can be seen through July 29.

>> The University of Texas of the Permian Basin has scheduled to display Adjunct Art Faculty Exhibition from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, through Aug. 12 at UTPB’s Nancy Fyfe Cardozier Gallery, 4901 E. University Blvd.

>> The Ellen Noël Art Museum has exhibits on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the museum, 4909 E. University Blvd.

CraftHouston 2006: Texas can be seen through July 29.

Metal Arts 2007, an exhibit of metal artwork from local sculptors and skilled metalworkers, can be seen through Aug. 24.

“West Texas Triangle,” an exhibit by Jesús Moroles, can be seen through Sept. 15.

Watercolor Horizon Juried Exhibition can be seen Aug. 3-26.

>> Odessa College has scheduled to display the 15th Annual National Competition of the Texas Photographic Society photographs exhibit from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, through Aug. 17 at the OC’s Learning Resource Center, 201 W. University Blvd.

‘Greater Tuna’

‘Living With Nature’

>> MARATHON The Marathon Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring workshops and nature tours, “Living With Nature,” starting at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 2-4 in Marathon, 70 miles north of Big Bend National Park.

Mornings will be devoted to workshops, ranch tours and in-depth seminars.

Afternoons will feature general session presentations and the evenings will feature West Texas arts, live music and social time.

Tickets are $75 for individuals and $130 for couples (or $45 for an individual single-day entry).

Pepe Aguilar

>> Latin Grammy Award Winner Pepe Aguilar will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Ector County Coliseum, 4201 Andrews Highway.

Aguilar is an American singer of Mexican descent who sings ranchera music. He is the son of Mexican entertainment legends Flor Silvestre Aguilar and the late Antonio Aguilar.

In 1998, Aguilar’s album “Por mujeres como tu (“Because of Women Like You”) was listed on the Billboard charts for 52 consecutive weeks, and was awarded “Hot Latin Track of the Year.”

Tea and Fashion Show

>> I Love Hats has scheduled a Tea and Fashion Show featuring “I Love Hats” models from

2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at Northside Senior Center, 1225 N. Adams Ave.

There will be fashion displays, food and tea.

Proceeds will benefit senior centers and the Elderly Nutrition Program. Tickets are $8.

Celebrity Waiters

>> MIDLAND Casa de Amigos will play host to “Celebrity Waiters Gone Wild Dinner” at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at Midland Country Club, 6101 N. State Highway 349.

There will be a reception for all waiters Aug. 7 to share ideas, help plan for the event and to build excitement and competition between waiters.

Ballroom/Latin intermediate/ advance dance classes: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Thursday.
