His voice has been the lead on award-winning mega hits for more than five decades both with the super group Chicago and as a solo singer.

Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Peter Cetera will play the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center on May 24.

His storied career has been both as bass player and singer and songwriter from 1968 to 1986 for the legendary rock group “Chicago”. In his time with the group, they recorded some of the most memorable albums of a generation, including such hits as “If You Leave Me Now,” “Hard to Say I’m Sorry,” “Baby What a Big Surprise,” “You’re the Inspiration,” “Stay the Night,” “Love Me Tomorrow,” “Happy Man,” “Feeling Stronger Every Day” and “Along Comes a Woman”.

A solo artist since 1986, he has recorded 10 CD’s including his No. 1 hits, the Academy Award nominated song “The Glory of Love” from the hit movie “The Karate Kid II,” “The Next Time I Fall,” with Amy Grant, “Feels Like Heaven” with Chaka Kahn”, “After All” with Cher from the motion picture “Chances Are,” “No Explanation” from the hit film, “Pretty Woman” and “Restless Heart”.

His current tour is with his seven piece electric band, “The Bad Daddy’s.” Cetera still performs his hits and he also appears in other musical formats including his “Symphony Show” for the larger venues and a smaller “String Quartet” version for smaller intimate affairs.

Cetera’s career includes 17 albums with Chicago and eight solo ablums.

With “If You Leave Me Now”, a song written and sung by Cetera on the group’s 10th album, Chicago garnered its first Grammy Award and first No. 1 single, Cetera’s biography stated.

As a solo artist, Cetera has scored six Top 40 singles, including two that reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in 1986, “Glory of Love” and “The Next Time I Fall.”

“Glory of Love” was co-written by Cetera, David Foster and Diane Nini, and was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for best original song from a motion picture.

Besides David Foster and Amy Grant, Cetera has collaborated throughout his career with other internationally known recording artists from various genres of music including: The Beach Boys, Billy Joel, Karen Carpenter, Paul Anka, Agnetha Fältskog, Richard Sterban, Bonnie Raitt, Madonna, David Gilmour, Az Yet, Cher, Chaka Khan, Crystal Bernard, Ronna Reeves, and Alison Krauss. His songs have been featured in soundtracks for movies and television.

In 2014, the first album by the group Chicago, Chicago Transit Authority (Columbia, 1969), with Cetera on bass and vocals, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Cetera was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Chicago in April 2016, and Cetera, Robert Lamm, and James Pankow are among the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees for their songwriting efforts as members of the group.
