MIDLAND The Museum of the Southwest, 1705 W. Missouri Ave., Midland, has scheduled A Day at the Races, the museum’s inaugural Kentucky Derby themed fundraiser and garden party, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The event is being held to celebrate the opening of the museum’s latest exhibition in the newly designed Turner Legacy Galleries. This exhibition highlights the family’s two Kentucky Derby winning horses, Tomy Lee (1959) and Alysheba (1987), and displays their prized Kentucky Derby trophies.

Activities include the 142nd Run for the Roses, croquet, horseshoes, a derby hat contest, and large-screen televisions to watch this year’s Kentucky Derby race live.

There will be a southern fare buffet and an open bar.

Ladies should wear big hats and men should wear bow ties.

Tickets are $60 for individuals and $110 for couples. Tables and corporate sponsorships are also available.

Call 683-2882 or email info@museumsw.org for more information.
