NUGGETS: Walk in Him

By Jannie Linney

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him”[Colo.2:6]. The Word of God teaches us that this is one of the most exciting passages in the bible. This comes to pass only if we participate.

When we invite Jesus into our heart to be our Lord and Savior in faith, He comes into us. “To whom God would make known what is the riches of His glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of Glory”[Colo.1:27]. When we receive Christ into our heart, we become a new creation, old things are passed away, and we are made new [2Cor.5:17]. We no longer want to live the way we did before Christ. “But we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”[2 Cor.3:18]. As we grow, mature and are obedient to the leading of the Spirit of God we are changed from incident to incident [Glorious Experiences] into His likeness. He is in us making changes in our personality, habits and attitudes. We experience the riches of His Glory which is no longer a fleshly thing but spiritual. That is the mystery the people of the world cannot understand, because it is spiritually understood.

John is speaking “ I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, who’s shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall Baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire”[Matt.3:11].

We are on the subject of “Walking “In” Him” and on the day of Pentecost they were about 120 gathered in the upper room all in one accord and “suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting”[Read Acts 2:2-4]. The room was filled, they were engulfed with the presence of the Holy Spirit. Many things happened and their lives were changed forever. They moved into Christ Jesus. Until then, Jesus had been in them, now they were in Him. “But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and prophets: Even the righteousness of God which is by Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe for there is no difference”[Rom. 1:21-22]. Showing He is “in” us and “upon” us, after they had that experience of being engulfed in the Holy Spirit. This is showing us how we come to a place to walk “in” Him.

“Then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin and ye shall receive the gift if the Holy Spirit. For this promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call” [Acts 2:38-39]. We invite Jesus into our heart and are baptized in water for the remission of sin. That is our Salvation experience. Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Spirit. The word “and” is a conjunction meaning another happening, so we receive Jesus first, then if we will receive the engulfing of the Holy Spirit, Jesus will become our Baptizer of The Holy Spirit and If we will receive we will also receive the baptism of Fire. Everything God has for us is our choice. This wonderful promise in Christ Jesus is available to us, to our children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord shall call. This wonderful life of Him in you and you in Him is available for you today, the plan is right here before you, Why not choose to receive all He has for you, “Walk In Him.”
