SCRAPBOOK: May 27, 2018

The United Daughters of the Confederacy met May 19. President Eleanor Edmondson called the meeting to order. Jane McBride read the Robert E. Lee prayer. Edmondson conducted the opening ritual. Lisa Uhlhorn, custodian, led the pledges to the flags. The members then read the American’s Creed. Secretary Ann Ellison read the minutes. There was no treasurer’s report.

Edmondson recognized the outgoing officers. Awards were read from the State Convention for donations to Honor Flight given by the chapter. Removal of historic monuments from Lee Park in Dallas was discussed. The chapter was asked to donate money to the UDC headquarters in Richmond for building repairs. Plans for the new board to meet in June were discussed.

Joyce Moore from the Midland UDC chapter then installed the new officers for 2018-2020. They are: President Eleanor Edmondson, Vice President Lorene Drapalla, Secretary and Treasurer Helen Slusher, Registrar Ann Ellison, Chaplain Elaine Coleman, Custodian Lisa Uhlhorn and Parliamentarian Ginger Marler. The meeting was then adjourned by “Johnny Reb” playing Dixie on his banjo.
