Cold and flu season is upon us yet again! I think it is a great time to just remind everyone to be aware of all the places you can pick these nasty little bugs up and how we can avoid them all together. You do not have to be a germ-a-phobe to avoid the risk of coming down with a bug, just keep a few simple things in mind.

Get a flu shot: Yes, they only protect against a few strains but these are the most common strains.

Keep your distance: Stay away from sick people as much as possible, that not only includes co-workers but friends and family as well.

Work out: Getting a good sweat helps to improve immune function.

Eat healthy: Here is another great reason to eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies! All of the antioxidants and nutrients in the fruit and veggies help support your immune system.

Do not touch: Keep your hands away from your eyes and mouth. Germs can easily enter and cause havoc.

Wash your hands: Make sure to wash your hands before and after you use the restroom. In public places, I also recommend using a paper towel to flush, to turn the water on and off at the sink and to open the door to the bathroom as well.

Sanitize: Make sure to keep alcohol-based wipes with you at all times, you never know when you could need them.

Wipe your purses: Ladies, one of the most common places to for germs to hide is on our purses. We set them on the floor in the bathroom, yuck! Trade your cloth bag in for something easy to wipe down and make sure to hang your bag, not set it on the floor.

If you just remember a few of these tips, you can have a healthy, happy holiday!
