Tatum Hubbard wants to make your life easier.

The CBS-7 news anchor and busy wife and mom of two will host and produce a new lifestyle program called “Studio 7” every Monday at 4:30 p.m., beginning this week.

“I’m so excited,” the Permian High graduate and former Miss Texas said. “I’ve wanted to do this program for a long time.”

The show will film in a corner of the current CBS-7 set and cover everyday lifestyle issues from relationships and food, to exercise and even technology, mainly “for me so I can catch up,” Hubbard said.

“They’re interesting topics and it’s an extension of a conversation you would have with friends,” she said. “We hope it will be viewer-driven, where people can mail us and say they want information on a topic, whether it’s how to decorate for the holidays or how to improve your relationship with your husband. What we hope to do every week is to help busy families make their lives a little more streamlined.”

Jessica Phillips will contribute to the show regularly as the relationship contributor, but don’t expect anything pretentious, Hubbard said.

“She’s not a Ph.D. or psychiatrist; she’s a wife and pastor,” Hubbard said. “We don’t want it to be stuffy.”

No one was probably more surprised than Phillips to receive the offer.

“I was excited and really honored but felt a little overwhelmed and not qualified necessarily,” Phillips said, laughing. “I don’t have that PhD or those credentials, but Tatum said, ‘Yeah, but you’ve counseled people and helped people and that’s the perspective we want.’ I agreed right away. It will be less critical. I tell it like it is, but I do it softly and lovingly.”

Sharon Gaines will produce the show along with Hubbard.

“We’re very excited to bring this show to West Texas,” Gaines said. “We’re definitely filling a need. There are no other locally produced shows like this in the Permian Basin. There are a lot of lifestyle shows on other networks but this is brought to you by West Texas for the community of West Texas.”

“It’s been a great creative outlet for me and a great challenge,” Hubbard, who will continue anchoring the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news, said. “Starting something new is a good thing. I’ve been anchoring here for 14 years and I still love it every day and will still do it but this is a new opportunity.”
