Like a Top 10 list of country music, Texas Thunder Music Festival General Manager Kim Blevins announced the event’s 2015 lineup Thursday, which included Florida Georgia Line, Big & Rich, Thomas Rhett, Joe Nichols and others.

Now in its third year, the festival is set for Aug. 21-23 at 16853-17099 N. Chinaberry Ave. in Gardendale. Tickets went on sale online Thursday for the early bird price of $120 for the weekend. Camping is available starting at $110 for a limited time, according to the website, http://www.texasthunderfest.com/.

Blevins said the festival started off small with Texas country acts adding a couple of Nashville groups last year, such as The Band Perry. This year the mix ranges from newcomers Frankie Ballard and singer-songwriter Clare Dunn to Tracy Lawrence.  There’s also country rocker Dallas Smith, Frankie Ballard, Jon Pardi, and rising star Thomas Rhett.

“One of the things we do really well is find … new talent. … Clare Dunn is someone to watch. We’ve also got Jon Pardi coming,” who has songs like “Missin’ You Crazy,” “Up All Night” and “When I’ve Been Drinking.”

“You know there’s a little bit of drinking that goes on at Texas Thunder, but we’re also kind of a family-oriented event, so we’re excited to have him come,” Blevins said.

Big & Rich and Florida Georgia Line are two groups Blevins is excited to host. She said Big & Rich’s stage show is like nothing she’s ever seen in country music and they always bring the pyrotechnics, so concert-goers can expect to see things blow up and experience a visit from Cowboy Troy.

The duo also has a new album out called “Gravity,” which could mean a “huge resurgence” for their career. Cowboy

“The biggest act we’re announcing today is Florida Georgia Line,” Blevins said. “We’re extremely fortunate to have them come. We’re really looking to build this festival to create something unique and special and we think Florida Georgia Line’s going to put us over the edge.”

Other headliners will probably be announced in March, Blevins added.

Herb Graham, a partner in the Texas Thunder Music Festival, said the festivals started in Arizona and Wisconsin eight or nine years ago. Blevins said there also is one in Canada.

Blevins said the festivals in Arizona and Wisconsin attract 25,000 to 30,000 people a day.

“We’re hoping to hit 15,000 to 17,000, maybe as high as 20,000,” she said.
