Adrian Lujan is heading back to Odessa with some hardware.

The Odessa High rising junior earned a bronze medal in the 3000 meter race Thursday in the Boys Age 15-16 Division (9 minutes, 19.82 seconds) at the USA Track and Field Region 12 Track Meet at Herman Clark Stadium.

River Hill of Texas Titans Track in Humble won with a time of 4:12.11 while Abraham Morales (9:19.25) of Speed City Track in San Antonio finished as the runner-up.

Lujan, who ran as part of the West Texas Track Club, followed that up Saturday by finishing fifth in the 1500 meters (4:21.87).

Both of those times were good enough to earn spots to the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships, which take place from July 22-28 in Sacramento, Calif.
