A 26-year-old Midland man died as a result of a single-vehicle rollover Thursday near the intersection of Interstate Highway 20 and Grant Avenue.

The fatal crash was reported at 2:46 a.m., an Odessa Police Department release stated.

Oscar Pena Jr., 26, of Midland was driving a Chevrolet truck east on Interstate Highway 20, the release detailed. James Martin, 34, of Paradise was traveling behind the Chevrolet truck in a Chrysler 300.

Pena was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed and lost control before colliding with a barrier and rolling over. Martin tried to avoid the crash before colliding with a guard rail post.

Pena was pronounced dead at the scene and next of kin were notified, the release stated.

There were no reports of other injuries and the investigation continues.
