A Midland and a Converse man are dead after a head-on two-vehicle collision about 22 miles northeast of Garden City, a Department of Public Safety press release detailed.

The reported collision happened at 8:23 a.m. Saturday on State Highway 137 at mile marker 350, the release stated.

Sterling Fairchild, 28, of Midland was driving at 2010 Ford F-350, while Phillip Richards, 30, of Converse was operating a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500, the release detailed.

The F-350 was traveling north on State Highway 137 and the Sierra 2500 was driving south on State Highway 137, the release stated. The F-350 failed to maintain a single lane and struck the Sierra 2500 head-on.

Fairchild and Richards were both pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated. Both men were wearing their seatbelts.
