Odessa police identified a 28-year-old man who died in a fatal collision early Wednesday morning in south Odessa.
The Odessa Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to a major crash at about 1:13 a.m. in the 800 block of South Meadow Avenue.
A black 2001 GMC pickup driven by Daniel Rey Garcia was travelling south at a high rate of speed and left the roadway before striking a pole, an OPD news release stated.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene and next of kin have been notified. There were no reports of any other injuries and the investigation continues, the release stated.
