Via Texas Department of Transportation Press release:

ODESSA — In an effort to reduce crashes and save lives on Texas roadways, the Texas Department of Transportation continues the “Plan While You Can” impaired driving campaign. The campaign urges drivers to plan ahead for a sober ride through its “Plan to Win” virtual reality game, which quizzes and educates participants on the dangers and consequences of drinking alcohol and driving. The interactive game is visiting six Texas cities throughout the summer.

The virtual reality game will be on display Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Security Bank Ballpark.

In 2018, there were 731 alcohol-related crashes in the 12-county Odessa District of TxDOT. Those crashes led to 58 fatalities and 84 serious injuries.

The “Plan While You Can” campaign is a key component of #EndTheStreakTX, a broader social media and word-of-mouth effort that encourages drivers to make safer choices while behind the wheel. Since November 8, 2000, at least one person has died on Texas roadways every single day. #EndTheStreakTX asks all Texans to commit to driving safely to help end the streak of daily deaths on our roadways.
