1. City Council members discussed annexation of areas just outside of city limits to the City of Odessa but were met with opposition during a public hearing Tuesday. The audience was shown a map of about 2,975 acres, primarily in south Odessa, that are proposed for the voluntary annexation.

2. Questions remained unanswered Tuesday after a federal prisoner died in U.S. Marshals Service custody Monday as a result of a shooting at Medical Center Hospital.

3. Commissioners on Tuesday moved forward with next steps for the county’s outdated radio system used by emergency personnel.

4. The Odessa Police Department Traffic Unit will begin directing traffic for the Permian and Odessa High football game at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Ratliff Stadium. Follow this link for diagrams of the traffic flow.

5. IN SPORTS: The Permian Panthers football team returns from their open date to kick off the District 2-6A schedule Friday against crosstown rival Odessa High. Success is when preparation meets opportunity is one of the mantras that Odessa High head coach Danny Servance preached to his team coming off the team’s open week.
