With a longstanding pigeon problem not soon to fly away, Ector County commissioners on Monday will consider proposal specifications on how to get rid of the birds from county property.

Pigeons have long plagued the honeycomb exterior of the Ector County Courthouse, most recently leaving large amounts of excrement once thought to be causing a noxious smell in the Ector County Clerk’s Office.

The pigeon poo is now cleaned regularly, but commissioners will still send out a request for proposals to remove the birds.

The agenda item at Monday’s commissioners’ court meeting calls for the commissioners to take action regarding the proposal specifications for “bird exclusion services.”

Commissioners also will:

  • Accept a $300 donation from Marie Lechuga for the Ector County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Consider accepting a pit run caliche donation to Ector County.
  • Consider a Johnson, Miller and Co. engagement letter for the Fiscal Year 2016 annual audit.
