Students from 26 Ector County ISD campuses will participate in the Ninth Annual Battle of the Bluebonnets at 10 a.m. Friday at the Odessa High School Lady Broncho Gym at Odessa High School, 1301 N. Dotsy Ave.

The schools will compete against each other in a quiz show format over a variety of culturally diverse literature. Over the past few weeks, participating ECISD elementary schools have been waging their own preliminary version of the battle leading up to the district-wide event that will name one school as the district champion.

Members of the community are invited to attend this free event to support literacy in ECISD.

Participating campuses include: Austin, Blackshear, Blanton, Buice, Burleson, Burnet, Cameron, Cavazos, Dowling, EK Downing, Fly, GP Alamo, Goliad, Gonzales, Hays, Ireland, Jordan, Johnson, Milam, Noel, Reagan, Ross, Sam Houston, San Jacinto, Travis, and West, a news release said.
