The Education Foundation of Odessa is continuing the AP/IB Campus Award Incentive Program in Ector County ISD at the cost of $70 for the first AP or IB exam a student passes.

Based on the success of ECISD students in the May 2018 session, a combined total of $25,060 is being made available to Odessa High School, Permian High School and George H.W. Bush New Tech Odessa for AP/IB teacher training based on the following report from Omega Loera, director of Advanced Academic Services in ECISD:

  • Odessa High School: 227 students at a cost of $70 each will be $15,890 for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate.
  • Permian High School: 120 students at a cost of $70 each is $8,400 for AP only.
  • New Tech Odessa: 11 students at $70 each is $770 for Advanced Placement only.

“The Education Foundation of Odessa is honored to support the AP and IB programs in ECISD through this incentive program that provides training for teachers,” Education Foundation Executive Director Celeste Potter said in a news release. “We are so proud to see continued success in our high schools and look forward to continuing this program in the future.”

The AP Program, administered by the College Board and taught at ECISD high schools, allows students to participate in college preparation courses and possibly earn college credit while still in high school. Secondary schools and colleges cooperate in this program to give students the opportunity to show mastery in college-level courses by taking the AP exam in May of each school year, the release said.

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.
