The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine announced the appointment of Dr. Michael Galloway as the new chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Gary Ventolini, regional dean of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, said in a TTUHSC news release that Galloway’s expertise will be “critical in educating our future physicians and taking care of our local community.”

Galloway is a founding member of the Robotic Residency Training Network and is one of the earliest adaptors of robotic surgical simulation training for residents, the release stated.

Galloway has previously served as the director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program and director of gynecologic surgery at Wright State University. He also is the co-director of surgical simulation at the Brethen Center for Surgical Advancement and a member of the Medical Executive Committee at Miami Valley Hospital.
