Kermit High School will be honoring local veterans today with a music program and will present a check to the Permian Basin Honor Flight.

Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. in the commons area at the high school and the music program begins at 9 a.m. in the high school’s competition gym. Kermit High School is located at 601 S. Poplar St.

Under the direction of Choir Director Vickie Pigmon, students work all year long to raise money for the Permian Basin Honor Flight, a news release from the Honor Flight stated. The first year, students raised more than $8,000 and last year they raised more than $20,000. It is rumored that this year they have raised even more, the release stated.p

Honor Flight will have several veterans at the event to accept this year’s check and several veterans from the area will be in attendance, the release stated.
