A 19-year-old man reportedly chased two men in a pickup and left four gunfire marks in a pickup near Odessa High School.

Joe Angel Lozano was charged Monday with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony.

The aggravated assault happened at 3:28 a.m. Jan. 3 in the 2700 block of Golder Avenue, an Odessa Police Department affidavit stated.

Luis Marquez and Alexander Roque stated they were reportedly shot at by Lozano. Marquez and Roque stated they picked up Lozano’s girlfriend and began driving around. They stopped at a gas station and the girlfriend received a phone call from Lozano, who began questioning her about her location. She handed the phone to Roque, who identified himself as Lozano’s cousin.

After the phone call, Marquez and Roque dropped her off at a residence near Seventh Street and Lauderdale Avenue, the affidavit detailed. They drove toward Marquez’s residence and while driving they saw a black Chevrolet Silverado make a u-turn and begin to follow them. Roque stated the truck was frequently driven by Lozano.

Traveling north in the 1200 block of Golder Avenue, Lozano caught up to them and began driving side by side, the affidavit stated. Lozano discharged a firearm multiple times in the direction of the pickup occupied by Marquez and Roque, the report stated. They crashed in the area of 31st Street and Golder Avenue.

Officers saw the vehicle was struck at least four times by gunfire, the affidavit stated.

Lozano was charged, arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

He has two bonds totaling $100,000 and is still in custody as of Wednesday afternoon, jail records show.
