A 20-year-old man was arrested after he reportedly had child pornography on his cellphone while on court-ordered probation.

Aaron Gabriel Tarango was charged Thursday with possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

Tarango was previously convicted of stalking, a third-degree felony, on Aug. 13, 2018, a Texas Department of Public Safety affidavit detailed. As part of the court order of Tarango’s probation, his electronic devices were to be monitored by the Ector County Adult Probation Office.

Officers reportedly saw what they believed to be internet searches for child pornography on Tarango’s cellphone. During Tarango’s required check-in on Thursday, Tarango’s electronic devices were searched. He came to the check-in with a black Samsung cellphone.

The Ector County Adult Probation Office searched his cellphone and during the search officers found one image that met the definition of child pornography, the affidavit stated. The image reportedly showed a girl under the age of 10 engaging in sexual activity.

Tarango was arrested, charged and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. He had two bonds totaling $70,000 and was still in custody as of Saturday afternoon, jail records show.
