A man was arrested and charged after he reportedly ripped out a phone cord from the wall of a car dealership and robbed an 85-year-old man of $1,200 and a Lincoln Town Car.

Clarence Anderson, 31, was charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and interference with emergency telephone call, a class A misdemeanor.

The incident occurred at 1:07 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Davis Auto located at 419 Dixie Ave., an Odessa Police Department affidavit stated.

L.C. Davis Jr., 85, stated a man assaulted him and stole $1,200 and a 1999 blue Lincoln Town Car he was selling, the affidavit detailed. Davis stated during the assault he had pain, redness and bruising on his left shoulder after Anderson pushed him to the ground. While on the ground, Anderson reportedly raised a pipe wrench over Davis and threatened to kill him.

Anderson ripped the landline telephone cord from the wall of the business to prevent Davis from calling 911, the affidavit stated. Anderson also issued a verbal warning to Davis not to call the police.

At 5:45 p.m., Midland Police Department located the 1999 blue Lincoln Town Car at the 2000 block of Rankin Highway, the affidavit detailed. Anderson reportedly possessed $450 and two receipts from Walmart for a total of $549.28.

Anderson was read his Miranda Rights, which he chose to waive, the affidavit stated. Anderson admitted to taking the vehicle from Davis after he discussed purchasing the vehicle. Anderson denied taking $1,200 from Davis and assaulting the 85-year-old man.

Anderson was charged, arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. He has two bonds totaling $26,500 and was still in custody as of Wednesday afternoon, jail records show.
