A 40-year-old man was arrested after he reportedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend at a bar and then fired multiple shots at a man who was dropping her off at his residence.

Bradley Allen Pepper was charged Friday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence), a second-degree felony.

The reported assault happened at 12:45 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of W. Hillmont Road, an Ector County Sheriff’s Office affidavit stated.

Dispatch reportedly received an initial call of shots fired and a second call was received from a complainant that stated he had been shot at when he dropped off a woman in the 500 block of W. Hillmont Road.

Pepper’s ex-girlfriend was identified as 42-year-old Jo-Michelle Coryell, the affidavit stated. Coryell stated Pepper fired six to eight shots at the car that dropped her off.

Coryell reportedly stated she had dated Pepper for two and a half years. Coryell also stated Pepper pointed the gun at her and pulled the trigger, but the weapon didn’t fire.

Coryell stated at midnight Friday that she and Pepper had been at the 10-4 Lounge located at 5619 N. Golder Ave., the affidavit stated. She stated that Pepper assaulted her by grabbing her and throwing her to the floor and stepped on her throat.

Pepper reportedly left the location without Coryell and returned to his residence, which led her to find a ride home. Pepper was taken into custody after he climbed out of a window of his residence.

Deputies found seven .45 caliber bullet casings in the area around the residence, but there was no weapon located, the affidavit stated.

Pepper was arrested, charged and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. He has one bond totaling $100,000 and was still in custody as of Friday afternoon, jail records show.
