A 53-year-old woman who was reportedly stabbed by her sister in the head and neck with a kitchen knife was no longer a patient as of Thursday morning, a Medical Center Hospital official said.

Kimberly Hamilton, 56, was arrested and charged Tuesday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury (family violence), a first-degree felony.

The assault happened at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of 51st Street, the Odessa Police Department affidavit detailed.

Hamilton reportedly stabbed her younger sister, Terri Hamilton, after a verbal dispute turned physical. Terri Hamilton was reportedly stabbed on the left side of her face and neck.

Kimberly Hamilton and Terri Hamilton started to argue about their mom’s vehicle and a check their mother had provided to another party, the affidavit stated. The sisters reportedly started pushing each other and Kimberly Hamilton fell to the ground after dodging one of Terri Hamilton’s punches. Kimberly Hamilton reportedly stood up, grabbed a knife from the kitchen, lunged at Terri Hamilton with the knife and cut the left side of her face and neck.

Terri Hamilton was transported to MCH, the affidavit stated. An officer stated MCH personnel advised she might need stitches on the left side of her face that ran from below her left eye to the top of her jaw.

Kimberly Hamilton was arrested, charged and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. She has one bond totaling $75,000 and was still in custody as of Thursday afternoon, jail records show.
