A 28-year-old woman was arrested after she reportedly kicked the inside of a Texas Department of Public Safety and Ector County Sheriff's Office patrol unit while intoxicated.

Anabel Bruton was charged with assault on a public servant, a third-degree felony, resisting arrest search or transport, a class A misdemeanor, and driving while intoxicated with an open alcoholic container, a class B misdemeanor.

The reported assault happened at 2:01 a.m. Sunday after a single-vehicle collision on Farm-to-Market 1882 near mile marker 327, a DPS affidavit detailed.

Bruton was reportedly being combative with Odessa Fire Rescue and a DPS trooper saw her swing at one of the firefighters.

While the trooper was speaking with Bruton, there was a heavy odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her, the affidavit stated. The trooper also reportedly saw Bruton had blood shot eyes and had slurred speech.

Bruton reportedly admitted to drinking two beers that night. The trooper asked Bruton to perform a sobriety test, which she refused.

Bruton resisted while being escorted to the DPS patrol unit, the affidavit detailed. Bruton started kicking the interior of the patrol unit and attempted to kick the trooper while trying to restrain her in the front passenger seat.

Bruton was then transported to an Ector County Law Enforcement Center by an ECSO deputy, the affidavit stated. Bruton reportedly attempted to kick out the windows of the ECSO patrol unit.

Bruton also kicked the hand of a deputy while being read her DIC-24 Statutory Warnings, which is a form read to a person after they have been charged with driving while intoxicated, the affidavit detailed. Bruton was then released to the EctorCounty jail staff for booking.

Bruton had three bonds totaling $6,500 and posted bail on Sunday, jail records show.
