A 21-year-old man who was wanted in connection to a robbery was arrested Friday morning by the United States Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, an Odessa Police Department release detailed.

Ian Jacob Collins was arrested at 10:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Glendale Avenue, the release stated.

Collins was charged May 23 with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, after he was reportedly one of three suspects who robbed several people at gunpoint after kicking open the front door of their home at 4:30 a.m. in the 2700 block of Hancock Avenue.

Collins and two other males held the victims at gunpoint while demanding their cell phones, cash and a 2018 Jeep Cherokee, the release stated.

At about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, OPD was responding to the area of 40th Street and Golder Avenue because the stolen vehicle that was taken at gunpoint was spotted, the release stated.

Officers then saw a male they believed to be the suspect, later identified as Collins, immediately exit the vehicle and leave the scene on foot.

While in pursuit of Collins, Odessa K-9 Cpl. Teddy Yelley, 29, was accidentally hit by another responding officer’s vehicle, a previous Odessa American article stated. Cpl. Frank Robles was the officer who accidentally hit Yelley.

Yelley was transported to Medical Center Hospital and was treated and released on May 26, according to a previous OA article.
