An affidavit detailed a 28-year-old woman was arrested after she reportedly attempted to remove her one-year-old daughter from the hospital after the daughter stopped breathing.

Lisa Dyke was charged Wednesday with two counts of abandoning or endangering a child, each a state jail felony, and possession of methamphetamine, a state jail felony.

The incident occurred on Nov. 15 at Odessa Regional Medical Center, the affidavit stated.

Ector County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call in reference to an unresponsive 13-month-old child, the affidavit detailed. The child was unresponsive and blue in color when she arrived to the ORMC emergency room.

The child was reportedly ill for two to three days and Dyke didn’t seek professional medical attention or give the child over the counter medicine, the affidavit stated.

Dyke was combative and aggressive to medical staff and ESCO deputies, the affidavit stated. She refused permission for the staff to treat her child and attempted to enter the room and remove her child. Dyke was advised the child needed to be transported to a pediatric ICU unit, which she refused to grant permission.

Dyke was eventually arrested in the emergency room for interference with public duties as she attempted to push past ESCO deputies and remove her child from the emergency room, while medical staff was performing lifesaving aid to the child who had stopped breathing, the affidavit detailed.

Investigation showed Dyke hadn’t provided medical aid to the child since birth, the affidavit stated. The child was eventually airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock for further treatment.

Due to the nature of the incident, a search warrant was issued for Dyke’s residence at 2607 N. Roundup Ave., the affidavit stated. Investigators found a piece of paper folded together laying on the edge of the bed in the master bedroom of the RV in plain view, the affidavit detailed. Inside the piece of paper investigators found a small amount of white crystallized rock substance reportedly identified as methamphetamine. The investigation also showed there was a six-year-old child in the residence.

Dyke was arrested, charged and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. She had three bonds totaling $30,000 and was still in custody as of Thursday afternoon.
