Two women reported sexual assaults over the weekend in what Odessa police investigators said they believed to be separate incidents.

No arrests were reported by Sunday night and police warned the public not to accept rides from strangers and lock doors and windows at night. Police did not detail in what way the women were sexually assaulted.

The first assault was reported at about 12:51 p.m. Saturday by a woman who told investigators that a man who she did not know attacked her at her home in the 3000 block of Bonham Avenue after giving her a ride from the area near University Boulevard and Maple Avenue, according to a news release.

Police reported the woman told officers that her attacker, described as a heavy-set Hispanic man, followed her from behind and attacked her in front of her residence, according to the release.

Police reported the suspect fled the scene in a white Ford SUV before officers arrived.

The second assault was reported at about 2:14 a.m. Sunday at Southwest Oaks Apartments, 4651 Oakwood Drive, the release stated.

There, a woman told police that she was sleeping with her windows open and awoke to find a stranger standing by her bed, the release stated.

The masked man then sexually assaulted her and fled on foot, the release stated.

Police described the suspect as about 5-feet-six-inches tall and reported he was wearing a mask and gray shirt.

Police asked anyone with information about the reported sexual assaults to call the Odessa Police Department at 432-333-3641 or the Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.
