A Crime Stoppers tip led to the arrest of an 18-year-old man who was reportedly smoking drugs from a pipe in the Odessa High School parking lot.

Garrhet May was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony, possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor, and criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor.

The incident happened 3:50 p.m. Friday at the OHS parking lot next to the In-School Suspension building at 12th Street and Whitaker Avenue, an Ector County Independent School District Police affidavit stated. May is not a student at Odessa High.

Officers stated there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside a Dodge pickup, the affidavit detailed. A narcotics search was performed and “dab” was found in the center console and it later tested positive for THC.

Officers also found a grinder with a useable amount of marijuana underneath the passenger seat, the affidavit stated. A glass pipe with marijuana residue was found in the passenger seat.

May was arrested, charged and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. He has three bonds totaling $27,000 and was still in custody as of Monday afternoon, jail records show.
