MIDLAND, Texas (AP) — Viper Energy Partners LP (VNOM) on Monday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $27.6 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Midland, Texas-based company said it had a loss of 41 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 12 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.
The oil and gas company posted revenue of $76.3 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $56.5 million.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $192.3 million, or $2.84 per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $250.6 million.
Viper Energy shares have risen 42% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $16.54, a decline of 27% in the last 12 months.
