The Odessa Police Department is currently searching for a man who is reportedly impersonating a police officer and stopping vehicles.

Several people have reported that a man is stopping vehicles in a white Ford Explorer or Expedition with red and blue flashing lights, according to a release from the OPD.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man about six feet tall and 170 pounds with a thick accent, according to the release.

The man is targeting women who are alone in the area of 42nd Street and Grandview Avenue; Eighth Street and Grandview Avenue; and 10th Street and Dixie Boulevard, according to the release.

The man is also reportedly not wearing a uniform or a badge during the stops.

Cpl. Steve LeSueur, spokesman for the OPD, said that the man asks the victims to step out of their vehicle however, none have followed the order.

Police officials said that anyone who thinks they are being targeted should call 9-1-1 and stop in a well-lit and populated area, according to the release.
