The Ector County Independent School District Board of Trustees will consider changing the name of Falcon Early College High School to Odessa Collegiate Academy when they meet in a work study session set for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first-floor board room of the administration building, 802 N. Sam Houston Ave.

Opened four years ago, Falcon Early College High School offers students a chance to earn up to 60 hours of college credit while still in high school. It was located on the University of Texas Permian Basin campus and moved last summer to Odessa College.

At OC, it joins OCTECHS, an early college high school that enables students to earn an associate degree and/or certifications while still in high school.

Falcon ECHS administration and OC representatives worked together on everything from the proposed name to school colors (Columbia Blue and black) and the mascot (a wolf). In July and August, OC will begin to build signage to place on the building.

In other business, the board will hear:

>> Discussion of and request for approval of a reorganization of the board of trustees naming a president, vice president and secretary.

>> An update on the budget and district financials for 2019-2020.

>> Discuss a memorandum of understanding between ECISD and UTPB for academic dual credit for fall 2019 to summer 2020.

>> Discuss a request for permission for the Permian Panther Paws Dance Team (37 students in ninth through 12th grade) to travel to New York City to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. The date of the trip will be Nov. 23 through Nov. 29.

>> Discussion of and request for approval of casualty and property insurance.
