Many couples have a dream of starting a family; however 1 in 5 of those couples will experience incomprehensible challenges resulting from infertility. Many women do not realize that fertility begins declining at the age of 27. This has become a major factor in couples struggling to get pregnant, since they are delaying starting a family until they have established their lives financially. The team at the Advanced Fertility Center and the Odessa Fertility Lab are coming together to help those couples with comprehensive care to assist in making dreams come true.

Rizwan Malik MD, MSc, FACOG, Botros Rizk MD, MA, FRCOG, FRCS HCLD FACOG FACS, and Brijinders S. Minhas PhD, HCLD, ELD, ALD, CC, MBA are all experts in the field of IVF with superior success rates. They will perform an extensive evaluation to determine the cause of infertility such as blocked fallopian tubes, ovulation problems, endometriosis or whether it is the male’s reproductive system. Every couple will receive a customized consultation and evaluation with physical exams, ultra sounds, blood work and other needed exams and testing to determine the next step.

The doctors will then give each couple an analysis with their customized treatment. Dr. Malik or Dr. Rizk will either recognize the most fertile time of the month for the female or prescribe medication to stimulate egg production. Another option for about 10-15% of couples is IUI, or intrauterine insemination, which is placing a healthy active sperm into the uterus maximizing the chance of fertilization.

If IVF is the best choice for you, it is one of the most effective therapies for infertility. In IVF, the ovaries are stimulated in order to produce eggs concentrating twelve tries into one. After the ovaries have been stimulated, eggs are retrieved from the body. A single, active sperm cell is injected directly into the egg for fertilization. Approximately five days after fertilization, the doctor will insert a blastocyst (embryo) back into the patient. All extra embryos can then be frozen for future use if the pregnancy is not achieved upon embryo transfer, or the patient wishes to have another child at a later date.

ORMC and Odessa Fertility Lab have invested in our community in offering a facility with the best available equipment such as lasers and robotic services, along with superior doctors who are dedicated to healthcare for women and families. Patients with infertility issues are traveling from all over the state to Odessa to ensure they receive the best possible treatment.
