We all have medical issues from time to time, and some of us only know one place to go when we or our kids get sick: The emergency room. Many people do not have a primary care provider, so the ER is the first place they think of. A busy ER can be incredibly frustrating, because if you are a non-emergent patient, you get pushed down and spend countless hours waiting to get medical care.

Now there is a solution! William Nall, RN, BSN and Odessa Regional Medical Center have introduced a new program called Patient Navigation. Patient Navigation is an amazing resource with many layers. William can help you find a primary care physician at various ORMC clinics in Odessa and Midland and get you an appointment scheduled. Not only does this reduce long stays in the ER, but it also significantly reduces the patient cost by visiting a clinic versus the emergency room.

The mission of the Patient Navigation Program is to make seeking healthcare as easy, convenient and efficient as possible. William, Patient Navigator, will do whatever it takes to ensure you find a clinic and doctor as quickly as possible. He will sit down with you for a one on one consultation and explain to you your best options and find a place that fits your medical needs. Also, if you are new to the area, William will make sure you find a primary care physician so that no medical need is left uncared for.

It makes our lives a little easier when we have a primary care physician that we have established a relationship with; one that has all of our medical records and understands our needs. Someone we can go see as soon as we need them without having to wait for hours in an ER. Patient Navigation is an excellent tool to help anyone find a physician who understands them on a personal level.

There are four primary care clinics in Odessa including: Complete Care Eastridge, Complete Care West Loop, Courtesy Health Screening and Pediatric After Hours Clinic. There is also a Complete Care in Midland and many other specialists available in our community. Another great resource is the Community Health Center. This is not a clinic, rather a wonderful resource for diabetes education as well as congestive heart disease education and consultations. Once you have established a relationship with your primary care physician, ORMC has an easily accessible patient portal where you can be in constant communication with your doctor and have access to medical records for optimum convenience.

So next time you or a family member is feeling sick and don’t have a private physician, call the Patient Navigator at (432) 582-8062 or visit odessaregional.com and allow William to guide you to the perfect place for your healthcare needs.
