As parents, we always want the absolute best for our children. However, the resources are not always available. When children are struggling with speech delays, there is a lack of places to turn for help. Odessa Regional Medical Center’s Community Health Center has added Speech/Language Therapy services.

Tanya Manriquez-Lujan, M.S., CCC-SLP is a Speech and Language Pathologist who understands our main goal is to communicate, and she is passionate about helping develop speech and language. She is accredited through ASHA with a certificate of clinical competence and services kids as well as the adult population.

With a doctor referral, Tanya will help with speech delays, articulation, fluency and many more speech, language and communication disorders. She has a number of resources such as communication boards as well as access to speech generated devices, and your treatment and frequency is on a personal basis of diagnosis and evaluation. Tanya wants to help children and adults communicate and understand language, and she works with patients throughout the school year and all summer long.

ORMC’s Speech and Language therapy not only helps with speech delays, but also communication for children with autism, down syndrome and learning disabilities. Using age appropriate pragmatic therapy will help them with social interaction, turn taking, making eye contact and desired language function. In speech, they will work on articulation, and with language comprehension and expression.

At the Community Health Center, Tanya also works with adults after a stroke, after a traumatic brain injury and with progressive disorders. She can guide you in relearning communication and comprehension so that you are able to communicate with friends and family. Patients will MLS or ALS, for example, can receive dysphagia therapy and learn new ways to communicate as well.
