Woman charged with threatening boyfriend with pocket knife

A 40-year-old woman was arrested after she reportedly chased her boyfriend with a pocket knife while she was intoxicated.

Leticia Venegas was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence), a second-degree felony.

The reported assault happened Nov. 17 in the 200 block of Wabash Avenue, an Odessa Police Department probable cause affidavit stated.

When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly contacted Joaquin Osorio who stated his girlfriend, Venegas, had been drinking alcohol throughout the day.

Osorio stated Venegas was emotional and intoxicated, the affidavit stated. Osorio stated he decided to leave when Venegas began an argument outside the residence with him.

Venegas reportedly went into the residence and returned with a red pocket knife in her hand. Venegas reportedly displayed the knife in a threatening manner.

Osorio stated Venegas began stating “Orita vas a ver” meaning “you’re going to see,” the affidavit stated. Osorio stated he was placed in fear for his life.

Venegas reportedly began to chase Osorio with the knife in her hand. Osorio contacted the police and then Venegas returned to her residence.

Venegas was arrested, charged and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. She had one bond totaling $30,000 and she posted bail on Nov. 17, jail records show.
